US Navy and Coast Guard rescue 3 people from a remote island. The 3 were discovered after a Navy plane flew over said island and saw the word HELP spelled out in palm fronds on the beach. The 3 had been stranded on the island for three days, the island is located 2600 miles away from Hawaii.

I think that it was a very good idea to use palm trees to make a sign. I am glad that they were all able to get rescued safely and in just a few days. It's good that somebody was flying by to be able to see them and rescue them.

There are rumors that Saudi Arabia and Russia have agreed to freeze oil output, which has caused oil prices to rise by 4.5%, making the price $42.17 a barrel, which is the highest price in 2016. The past two years have seen an extreme surplus of oil output, more than the world can consume, which has dramatically lowered the price. The rumored freeze in production is meant to decrease supply so that prices will go up, but a previous agreement between Russia and Saudi Arabia in February to keep oil outputs at the January rate was seen as "a joke" by Iran, who pledged to boost its own production.

We all know that oil is used in a lot of things and these places are trying to capitalize on this. We need to be united and that is not the case today.

Venezuela is expected to have inflation rise as high as 481% this year and 1,642% next year, as well as a 17% unemployment rate this year and 21% unemployment rate next year according to Tuesday's new estimates by the International Monetary Fund. The problem being that Venezuela's exports are 95% oil, and even has the largest oil reserves in the world, but the market for oil is extremely saturated with more oil than the world knows what to do with at the moment, as mentioned in my last post.

A near 500% inflation rate is very unusually high. That kind of level of inflation is abysmal. I agree that relying on one commodity for almost all of their exports is a bad economic decision. I believe that Venezuela needs to rely more on their other exports to make up for the money lost in depending on oil.

Social Security will be in a crisis within the next 18 years. Basically saying, there are too many kids to be supported by social security. The number of workers to beneficiaries is decreasing gradually. The amount of beneficiaries doesn't tell you how much social security costs to run, but the ratio was 16.5 to 1 in 1950 down to 3 to1 and soon to be 2 to 1.

I think that the world we live in today needs to have some sort of fall back plan. We are different from any other place in the world and we do things differently. We should be equals.

Today a woman fights for the well being of her baby after she's been infected with the Zica Virus. Molina had gotten the virus from a mosquito at three months of her pregnancy. She personally wasn't severely afflicted, "just sick for three days." But she was worried of the outcome of her baby, after hearing of the 950 Zica deformation cases that's been reported. The Zica virus is known to deteriorate the fetus's brain and have babies come out with smaller heads and under developed brains.

Today a journalist gone terrorist in Africa has been executed. The journalist went by the name Hassan Hamafi, who was a journalist and radio host of The Holy Quaran. Hassan had gotten much publicity over the few years for his career. He was unfortunately charged last week, however, with murder. He had spied on his fellow journalists and even killed and helped kill journalists for the terrorist group none as Al-Shabaab. Hanafi had not been a terrorist the whole time however, it was more so an infatuation during his career gone awry. After his hearing, he was sentenced to death and was executed Monday by a firing group.

U.S. small business confidence fell to a two-year low in march amid persistent worries about sales and profits, the latest indication that the economic growth braked sharply in the first quarter. According to the National Federation of Independent Business(NFIB) small business optimism index dipped .3 points last month, causing a reading of 92.6. This is an overall decline since December 2014 which had a score of 100. This pushes further off of the 42 year average of 98. The current GDP growth estimates well below a 1 percent rate. Small business owners are fairly upbeat about business conditions and capital spending, however their views on the labor market have softened.

China has been doing really bad economically for the past seven years from excessive lending, the chinese government released a statement saying they have made a five year plan to boost their economy up to a 6.6%. They plan on doing this by pulling away from manufacturing and more towards the service. They also plan on shedding 1.8 million coal and steel jobs in effort to reduce excess capacity.

The country bit more than they can chew with the amount of money the lent. I agree that reducing jobs in the coal and steel area will make it much harder to create 50 million new jobs. Reducing jobs shouldn't be a plan on improving an economy. If China's economy gets any worse it could be a problem for the rest of the world economy.

The U.K. inflation rate rose to .5% in March. The main reason is from the sharp increase in air fares, due to earlier timing of Easter. Inflation is at its highest number since December 2014. Air fares jumped up 22.9% between February and March. There are no indications of the inflation rate going above 1% in the current year. Many economic professionals point out that the inflation rise is not as serious as one might expect. Ben Brettell, senior economist at Hargreaves Lansdown, said that "Although inflation rose by more than expected, the overall trend remains weak, and places little pressure on the Monetary Policy Committee,".

The mosquito-borne disease is a cause of microcephalic, according to the World Health Organization, but experts are now linking the virus to premature birth, eye problems and other neurological conditions in babies born to mothers who were infected while pregnant. These concerns are no longer limited to exposure to the virus only during the first trimester. There is reason to be concerned throughout the pregnancy. Zika been sexually transmitted in Texas CDC confirms. So far there have been at least 346 cases of the virus in the continental United States, according to the CDC. Most of these among travelers returning from currently affected countries and territories. There are no reported cases of mosquito transmitted Zika infection at this time.

He was on the phone cooking himself food and he stole a bottle of water before he left. He was there when the restaurant was receiving a delivery and the suspect waited until the delivery man left and then he snuck in.

These videos show how police officers are using excessive for in schools. In the first video a 6th grade girl was handcuffed and then body slammed on the concrete ground and was knocked out. that officer did not report any arrests to the school and the superintendent did not know about the arrest until the video was posted on YouTube. The officer did not file a report until the next day and he said she fell on accident but the video proves otherwise.

A new study by networking site LinkedIn found that young people really do change jobs a lot more than their parents did. The new normal is for Millennials to jump jobs four times in their first decade out of college. That's nearly double the bouncing around the generation before them did.

Starbucks is changing their rewards program. Instead of getting a stamp for everytime you go to Starbucks, you earn 2 stars for every dollar you spend. In the current system you need to earn 12 stamps for a free drink, and in the new system you have to earn 125 stars (spend $62.5) to earn the free drink. To become a gold member you used to need 30 stars (30 visits), now you need to earn 300 stars (spend $300). If you spend over around $6 a visit, this new system will be more helpful, but if not you will be getting as many rewards. On top of all of that, you have to update the Starbucks app to start earning more rewards which will wipe out your previous rewards from this year.
