If the housing market crashes and does not receive a bailout, the economy will crash. However, like in the Big Short, I am certain a bailout will save the economy, but not save the jobs and homes. People will be made unemployed and homeless no matter what is done afterward if the housing market continues to fail.

Australian researchers have come up a "Bionic Spinal Cord" system about the size of a paper clip. This system is implanted in a blood vessel and could give people the ability to walk once again. The system is implanted in a blood vessel next to the brain which monitors brain wave activity to analyze where movement is needed.

I think this could be ground breaking but also very risky. It comes with a lot of risk but if I were to be paralyzed and I had the chance to walk again I would take that chance in a heartbeat.

My opinion on this is that every where in the world should be the same prices. Such as California having the highest tax rate, even though each state is different in prices the taxes I think should be the same because it is not fair.

According to studies, the U.S. is dropping in life expectancy rates compared to other countries with similar economies such as Japan and western European states. Researchers have said drugs and alcohol abuse are the leading cause which results in car crashes, suicides, etc. In the 1980's, the U.S. was the country with the highest life expectancy and in recent years the western European countries have gained that privilege.

I think that a shorter life expectancy may benefit humanity in the long run because of overpopulation. However, the underlying causes of alcohol and drug abuse need to be dealt with by our country's leaders.

I agree with your assessment. The idea of a Communist country that also is conflicting with the United States and its allies is terrifying. I think that we should find a diplomatic solution to this conflict, and try to ease tensions between the US and North Korea. I believe that if we ramp up production of nuclear weapons to intimidate North Korea, we will just have a second cold war.

Although the gas prices and oil prices are at a sudden decrease, but this resource will become scarce once again in the near future and then the prices will rise again and its not just oil and gas its all goods and services prices are going down as well its just really relates to supply and demand. whatever the consumer wants the companies must provide. so the demand for gas and oil isn't as high as it used to be bc of electric cars so companies don't have to supply as much product so the price goes down so people buy their product.

I agree with you. It's weird how the 2 train could crash head to head. With all the technology we have today I think they would have notice. It's a good thing not a lot of people were on the train.

In Uganda, Zika forest, there was a virus outbreak that was first caused by mosquitos then moved to monkeys and now to people causing birth defects in pregnant women. Now there is a possibility of this virus coming to the U.S.

In this article it says how there is a lot of job openings now in America. The amount of job openings now is three times more as it was in June. Some people think that having many jobs openings is a good thing for the economy, but if there is a lot then more people will be less educated and more people will get hired with out being educated for that job because they would need people to fill in those job openings.

Due to the end of Iranian sanctions and a large amount of oil production by countries such as the US and Saudi Arabia, gas prices have gone down to $1.11 retail and 69 cents wholesale in Oklahoma, with the national average retail gas price at $1.74. Since refineries can't make too much money in this market, some will "take this opportunity to shut down and perform maintenance," which will bring the gas price back up.

I agree on your sentiment about how low prices could have a negative impact on a market, yet I think that the steady decrease in price is a sign of our growing gasoline supply. I believe that with a great amount of oil we can grow the economy immensely. I still think that low prices can effect the gas market negatively, but we can use the excess oil to help the economy.

Bank sharing has been falling fast, especially those in Europe. Economists believe that the inefficient performance of European economies of the past several years are partly to blame for the low bank rates. There are also problems with Banking rates in America with a 4.2% decline in quarterly profits. All of these problems have economists worried about the chances of another recession.

BP is going to cut jobs by 5 percent, which is 4,000 to 20,000 workers without jobs. BP is being put into this position because of the record lows in the price of oil per barrel. The price of oil per barrel is currently $30, and not only is the price of oil low, but the company is undergoing a 3.5 Billion dollar restructuring program. Other companies such as shell and chevron have also cut thousands of jobs due to the fall of oil prices.

I agree with Rowan in that the fall of oil prices may be a bad thing for the U.S. I believe that the fall in oil prices should not have any effect on a person's job. Not only will thousands of people lose their jobs for no valid reason, but the oil business will take a setback in their flow of income.

I think that we should be producing more oil so that companies can sell their oil for a reasonable price without cutting jobs. While some may argue that this is bad for the environment, I think that it is necessary until we find more efficient and affordable alternatives.

Sheriff Deputies arrived on Tues, Feb 9th, near Holly Ave in Compton, after the sounds of gunshots were reported. The sheriffs arrived to find a 3-month old baby with a gunshot wound to the face outside the home. The sheriffs rushed the baby to the hospital, but it died later that evening in the hospital according to LASD. Police are still trying to find the two men who committed this crime, and are currently categorizing the offense as a "drive-by" or "walk-up" shooting. The information of the family is kept and preferred disclosed.

Scientists have confirmed that the zika virus which is spread by mosquitoes, could be far more dangerous than we thought. The zika can lead to Guillain- Barre Syndrome or GBS. It causes complete paralysis. There is no treatment for adults and children. The World Health Organization reported that places like El Salvador, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela have seen increasing levels of GBS in areas where Zika is spreading. Zika is a serious threat that WHO has declared it a Global Health Emergency . The international agency said the virus had been detected in 20 countries in the Western Hemisphere. I think people should avoid going to these countries just until they can control. It could be a way to stop the virus from spreading.

I agree with your opinion, I believe avoiding traveling to these countries would be the best way to control the spread of the virus. I believe they should take bigger actions and make people more aware of this virus especially with how easily someone can get it. People who travel to these countries should especially be given information on methods that can be used to prevent mosquito bites or to avoid certain locations with a larger population of mosquitoes.

I agree with you Ivonne, it would be easier to control the disease if we avoid the sources. Also, if people do travel to these countries then they should be thoroughly examined before they are let back into the country.

A 13-year-old girl, Danielle Lei and her mother in San Francisco were selling cookies outside a medical marijuana dispensary. The controversy is between whether this mother-daughter duo is business savvy or inappropriate. When people contacted Girl Scouts of the USA, they responded by saying "As always our primary concern is the safety and well-being of the girls we serve volunteers and parents are empowered to relocate their booths conditions change or the location is no longer suitable" yet many didn't get an answer to their questions whether it was permitted to be selling Girl Scout cookies outside a Green Cross. In two hours , Lei had sold 117 boxes, reaching out to her mother she said , "I don't condone it, i'm not saying to go out in the streets and take marijuana" and with that being said she plans on going there again the following Saturday to sell more. To date there is not a permitted or prohibited location list, girl Scouts of the USA rely on parents and launchers to make decisions for their own girls. They plan to reevaluate their policies and procedures at the end of each cookie sale and will consider whether further that guidelines will be beneficial.

I thought this was pretty funny hearing about this girl and her mom. I think that these two were quite clever to come up with the idea of posting themselves outside of a dispensary. This is one of the most brilliant ideas I have ever heard. I also think that they should be allowed to sell their cookies anywhere within reason.

I agree with you on this controversy being more business savvy. The mother and daughter aren't selling any of the actual Marijuana itself. They are taking advantage of the foot trafficking and aren't causing any obstruction to the business itself. They're providing a service and I believe it's fine for them to be selling their Girl Scout cookies on the premise.

The price of oil is steadily dropping, which is good for the consumer but what about the the oil companies. BP said that they were looking to cut five percent of jobs globally. They have continually been cutting expenses and selling assets due to the 2010 Gulf of Mexico spill. Now with record low prices on oil the employees are next.

This is very bad, the unemployment rate will increase substantially. If the price of oil continues to stay the same the 5% could increase as well to 6 or 7 percent.

When there are more trades coming in and out of the port more money is being made. So many more cargo trades are coming into the ports the deficit of money is increasing substantially. More shipment containers means more land, machinery, and employees.
